Re:Baucus Applauds HHS Launch of Initiative to Reduce Preterm Births
Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.) today applauded the launch of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Strong Start Initiative to reduce the increasing number of premature births and ensure more babies are born healthy. A component of the Strong Start Initiative will work to reduce the premature births among at-risk Medicaid beneficiaries through testing enhanced prenatal care. From Chairman Baucus:
“We have a responsibility to ensure all women, including Medicaid beneficiaries, have access to high-quality care during pregnancy. This initiative will find innovative ways to help expecting mothers deliver healthy babies and avoid the dangers and costs of preterm births.”
