Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.) today commented following the news that the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) upgraded the United States’ risk status for BSE to “negligible,” its best rating. From Chairman Baucus:
“This is fantastic news for ranchers in Montana and across the country, and it is well deserved. American ranchers produce the highest quality beef products in the world, and those products meet the toughest safety standards. Having the top safety rating will help us tear down the remaining barriers to American beef exports and ensure that our trading partners abide by science-based standards.”
