Hatch Announces Markup of Hire More Heroes Act

WASHINGTON – Senate Finance Committee Chairman Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), today announced a committee markup of H.R. 22, the Hire More Heroes Act, legislation that will permit businesses to hire veterans without requiring them to count as a full-time employee under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA).  The law currently requires that businesses with 50 or more full-time equivalent employees offer health insurance.

“The Hire More Heroes Act is a no-brainer,” Hatch said.  “It will provide incentives for companies to hire more veterans by ensuring they don’t count against the 50 employee threshold.  This is exactly the kind of commonsense job-creating policy the American people demanded, and I look forward to moving this bill through the Finance Committee.”
