Wyden Statement on Increased Congressional Staff Access to Trade Documents

WASHINGTON - Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden, D-Ore., praised increased access to trade documents for Congressional staff that went into effect this week under new consultation and engagement guidelines released by the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative. Wyden successfully fought for the new guidelines, including increased staff access to trade documents, as part of the Trade Priorities and Accountability Act passed earlier this year.

"I’m glad to see that the new transparency standards I fought for are now in effect, affording members of Congress substantially increased oversight by increasing the information our staff can access,” Wyden said. “I look forward to continuing to work with the USTR on implementation of this year’s trade legislation, which included unprecedented new requirements on transparency."
