Wyden Statement on ITC Digital Trade Report

WASHINGTON - Senate Finance Committee Chairman Ron Wyden, D-Ore., today issued a statement following the release of the U.S. International Trade Commission’s (ITC) report on Digital Trade in the U.S. and Global Economies:

“I welcome the U.S. International Trade Commission’s (ITC) report on Digital Trade in the U.S. and Global Economies. The ITC surveyed the 21st century economic landscape and found that the digital economy creates U.S. jobs, raises wages, and generates a significant trade surplus.

“This report makes clear that the Internet is a pillar of a growing American economy, and the Administration needs to ensure that trade agreements contain strong, enforceable rules that promote digital trade. I appreciate the U.S. Trade Representative’s recognition of the importance of digital trade as a U.S. trade priority, and urge Ambassador Froman to redouble his efforts to ensure that the Internet remains an open platform for global commerce.”
