Wyden Blasts RFK Jr. on Trump Administration’s Scheme to Disappear Vulnerable Unaccompanied Migrant Children

Hundreds of kids in RFK's care - some as young as 10 years old - were targeted to be loaded onto planes in the dead of night as part of Trump’s cruel mass deportation efforts

Washington, D.C. – At yesterday’s Senate Finance Committee hearing, Ranking Member Ron Wyden, D-Ore., blasted U.S. Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on reports that the Trump administration attempted to defy court orders and disappear 600 kids to Guatemala, as well as an internal memo issued by the Guatemalan government that exposes the Administration’s bogus ‘family reunification’ claims as false.

The memo, which Wyden entered into the Committee record, details the fear and intimidation felt by the children’s families when they were approached by the Guatemalan government about their children returning. Many of these children fled Guatemala and sought refuge in the United States to escape gang violence and recruitment, trafficking, abuse, and threats of death. Returning these children to Guatemala without proper due process puts them back in danger and violates their legal rights.

“Mr. Kennedy calls himself a protector of children, some kind of rich claim from somebody who’s flown on Jeffrey Epstein’s private jet on multiple occasions,” Wyden said. “Donald Trump and RFK Jr. fabricated bogus claims to justify their witch hunt against immigrant children and their families, and this memo proves it. I am working around the clock to stop these predators from continuing to traffic vulnerable children – that includes sending them back to countries they have fled. I will be watchdogging any further attempts to illegally deport children in the care of HHS.”

Last week, Wyden sounded the alarm on the Trump administration’s depraved plan after receiving a confidential whistleblower report. Shortly thereafter, Kennedy and Trump rushed their illegal deportation scheme over the weekend, rounding children up in the dead of night with virtually no notice to the children’s lawyers. Reports say children were confused and terrorized by the attempted deportations. One lawyer recounted a child saying, “Why do they want to send me back? My mom is dead and my dad abuses me. Why do they want to hurt me?”
