Wyden Blasts Trump for Killing Direct File Tax Program
Washington, D.C. — Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden, D-Ore., today issued the following statement on a report that the Trump administration notified states that it is killing the Direct File program he authored as part of the Inflation Reduction Act to give Americans a free option to file their taxes directly with the IRS:
“The Trump administration operates like a laser-guided weapon aimed at any useful public service that saves Americans time and money. The only thing Trump accomplishes by doing this is stealing from working class taxpayers to pad the profits of giant, rent-seeking tax software companies.”
