Wyden Statement on Crapo-Cassidy Health Legislation
Washington, D.C. — Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden, D-Ore., today issued the following statement after Senators Crapo and Cassidy released legislation marketed as an alternative to extending Affordable Care Act tax credits that lower Americans’ health insurance premiums.
“This bill leaves middle-class Americans saddled with sky-high premiums, and Big Insurance makes out like bandits by selling junk plans to families that desperately need health coverage,” Wyden said. “Instead of working with Democrats to stop this health cost crisis, Republicans are selling snake oil and waving around ideological trophies to satisfy their base. Under this plan, Americans lose and Big Insurance wins. This week, Americans will have the opportunity to see whose side their senator is on.”
