Wyden Statement on Final CBO Estimate of House Bill

Washington, D.C. — Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden, D-Ore., today issued the following statement after the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) released its final estimate of the House-passed reconciliation bill.

“House Republicans rushed to pass this awful bill in the dead of night, and it’s clear why,” Wyden said. “According to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, the last-minute changes made to this bill actually made it worse: over a trillion dollars in health care cuts, millions more Americans losing their health insurance. This bill has gone from bad to worse. If Senate Republicans truly think this bill is the right direction for America, they owe it to Americans to defend it in public instead of ramming it through under the cover of darkness before they even know what it will do to their constituents.”

The full estimate from CBO can be found here.
