Wyden Statement on Trump Admin Reversing Course on Medicare Advantage Rates
Washington, D.C. — Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden, D-Ore., today issued the following statement after the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) finalized higher payments to insurance companies in Medicare Advantage than originally proposed.
“Dr. Oz and the Trump administration have once again sided with big insurance companies at the expense of seniors and American taxpayers,” Wyden said. “After much fanfare and press coverage about cracking down on Medicare Advantage overpayments, Republicans have once again reversed course and proven whose side they are really on. While insurance companies get billions in higher payments and their stock prices soar, American families are stuck with record high premiums and deductibles, all to pay for care that’s locked behind more and more barriers. Senate Democrats are taking on corporate greed to make health care affordable for American families.”
