Wyden Statement on Trump Signing Russia Tariff Bill Into Law
Washington, D.C. — Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden, D-Ore., today issued the following statement after Donald Trump signed into law the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026, which gives him new authority to impose tariffs on countries around the world.
“It is clear why Trump pushed so hard for this bill’s passage: it gives him even more tariff power that he can use to threaten allies, settle personal scores, reward his cronies, and raise the cost of living,” Wyden said. “Meanwhile, massive loopholes in the bill allow him to continue sitting on his hands and avoid implementing meaningful sanctions against Russia and those propping up Putin’s war machine. Passing this bill at Trump’s behest after his wanton abuse of tariff authority means the American people will once again pay the price.”
