Wyden Statement on Volume Five of The Senate Intelligence Committee’s Russia Report
Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden, D-Ore., today released the following statement in reaction to volume five of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence’s Russia report:
“The bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee report confirms the findings of my NRA investigation—the NRA exchanged access to the American political system for the promise of lucrative personal business opportunities.
“The report also further clarifies that conspiracy theories about Ukraine, which provided the basis for Chairman Grassley and Chairman Johnson’s increasingly broad investigation, was first propagated by Konstantin Kilimnick, a Russian intelligence officer with close ties to Paul Manafort.
“The chairmen should immediately abandon their investigation. The findings of this bipartisan report are yet more evidence that their investigation is giving credibility to disinformation pushed by Russian intelligence.”
