Wyden Readout of Bipartisan Briefing with Secretary Yellen on OECD Agreement

Washington, D.C.—Senate Finance Committee Chair Ron Wyden, D-Ore., today released the following readout of the Senate Finance Committee’s bipartisan briefing with Secretary Yellen on the OECD agreement:

“Secretary Yellen today briefed the bipartisan membership of the Finance Committee on the terms of the global agreement among 137 countries to help stabilize our international tax system, stop the race to the bottom on corporate taxes, and block discriminatory digital services taxes that target American companies. She stressed the importance of instituting a robust country-by-country minimum tax by reforming GILTI and BEAT, and emphasized the strong safeguards in place to ensure other countries adhere to the agreement. The Treasury Department’s work achieves the long-stated goals of the global negotiations in reaching a multilateral agreement, and enacting a robust global minimum tax is central to our efforts to rebuild our economy and help middle-class families get ahead. The Secretary committed to briefing Congress on an ongoing basis, and I look forward to continuing to work closely with Secretary Yellen on implementation of this historic agreement.”
