Wyden Statement on IRS Data Sharing with ICE, New Watchdog Report
Washington, D.C. — Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden, D-Ore., today issued the following statement on a new report by an IRS watchdog regarding the Trump administration’s abuse of taxpayer data in its anti-immigration campaigns:
“ICE is a lawless organization that should never have come anywhere near taxpayer data. It’s clear that ICE was mishandling this data from the earliest days of Trump’s second term, and the data sharing agreement between IRS and DHS was designed to paper over widespread violations of strict taxpayer privacy laws. Those responsible for violating the law should face prosecution.”
