Re: Baucus Comment Regarding USTR National Trade Estimate Report
Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.) commented today on the 2010 National Trade Estimate Report on Foreign Trade Barriers released yesterday by the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR), Ambassador Ron Kirk. The report catalogs barriers to U.S. exports around the world. From Chairman Baucus:
“This report is an important first step in identifying and addressing barriers to trade around the world. But USTR must bolster its efforts to dismantle all significant barriers to key U.S. exports, including barriers to U.S. beef in Korea, China, Japan, Taiwan and other important markets. USTR has assured us it will continue to push for full access, based on international scientific standards, in all of these markets and we will be watching closely to make sure that happens. America’s ranchers, farmers, manufacturers and service providers need full access to the global marketplace to meet the President's goal of doubling U.S. exports within five years.”
The 2010 National Trade Estimate Report on Foreign Trade Barriers is available on the USTR website at http://www.ustr.gov/uploads/reports/2010/NTE/NTE_COMPLETE_WITH_APPENDnonameack.pdf.
