Wyden Statement on Nomination of Chiquita Brooks-LaSure to Lead CMS

Senate Finance Committee Chair Ron Wyden, D-Ore., today issued a statement after the Biden administration announced the nomination of Chiquita Brooks-LaSure to be the administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS):

“The Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services is a key piece of the American health care system, overseeing the health coverage of 130 million Americans, and its leader must have a strong understanding of the health care challenges facing families and communities across the country,” Wyden said. “Chiquita Brooks-LaSure has a proven record of success when it comes to expanding health coverage and making health care more affordable for families, and I look forward to quickly bringing her nomination to the Finance Committee. CMS needs a leader on the job as soon as possible to help turn the tide of the pandemic and improve health care for all Americans.”
