Baucus Announces Addition to Finance Committee: Bill Dauster to Become Democratic General Counsel


(WASHINGTON, D.C.) U.S. Senator Max Baucus today announced that Bill Dauster will jointhe U.S. Senate Finance Committee staff as Democratic General Counsel on April 22. Bill hasworked in Washington, D.C. since 1986. He served for 10 years with the Senate BudgetCommittee as Chief Counsel and then as Democratic Chief of Staff. Bill has since also beenDemocratic Chief of Staff for the Labor Committee, Deputy Assistant to the President forEconomic Policy under the Clinton Administration, and most, recently served as LegislativeDirector for Senator Russ Feingold.

"I am very pleased by the addition of Bill Dauster to the Finance Committee staff, whichwill continue the committee tradition of skilled, top quality staff. The breadth of Bill'sexperience will serve the Committee well as Congress faces current budget deficits andincreasing pressures looking towards the retirement of the baby boom generation."

At the Finance Committee, Bill will work on procedural matters, including Committeejurisdiction, Committee rules, Senate floor process, and other committee legal matters. Inaddition, he will advise Senator Baucus and other Finance Committee Democrats regardingbudget and Social Security matters.
