Re: Smithsonian secretary’s resignation
Da: Monday, March 26, 2007
Sen. Chuck Grassley, ranking member of the Committee on Finance, today made the following comment on the Smithsonian secretary’s resignation.
“New leadership brings new opportunity for this American institution. It’s a positive step
to have a leadership change. The secretary is only part of the Smithsonian’s leadership. The other
part is the board of regents. The board needs to continue to recognize its responsibility and take
action. I look forward to working with the board on governance reforms and also to ensure that
the new secretary will restore the institution’s status as a point of national pride.”
