Wyden Statement on Supreme Court Ruling to Allow DOGE to Access Americans' Social Security Data

Washington, D.C. — Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden, D-Ore., today issued the following statement after the Supreme Court ruled that DOGE employees may have unlimited access to Americans’ sensitive Social Security records.

“The Supreme Court has just unlocked the Fort Knox of Americans’ most personal and private information for a cabal of unelected, anonymous, and partisan agents for no legitimate reason,” Wyden said. “This information, which includes home addresses, income, and medical data such as a cancer or HIV diagnosis, could be used for all manner of nefarious purposes if it falls into the wrong hands, inside or outside of government.”
